Motorcyclist hospitalized with major injuries after Citrus Heights collision

Updated 1:33 p.m., Jan. 31st
Sentinel staff report– Citrus Heights police closed down a section of Oak Avenue Monday afternoon following a major injury collision involving a motorcyclist and a pickup truck.

In a news release issued Monday evening, police said several 911 calls were received around 2:30 p.m. regarding an injury collision on Oak Avenue at Olivine Avenue, near C-Bar-C Park. Responding officers found a male motorcyclist on the ground, “unconscious and suffering from major injuries,” police said. The man was taken to a hospital where he is currently being treated.

Police said the collision involved a 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck. The driver of the truck involved was not injured and has been cooperative with a subsequent investigation of the collision, according to police.

Although the cause of collision was not included in Monday’s statement from police, the department said drug/alcohol impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in the collision.

Oak Avenue was closed from Fair Oaks Boulevard to Kenneth Avenue, following the collision. Most or all of the roadway was reopened by 6 p.m.

An update on the motorcyclist’s condition was not immediately available from police, following a request made on Thursday afternoon.
