Sentinel staff report–
Savvy Citrus Heights residents may have already caught the error, but if not, Republic Services is alerting residents about an error in the 2019 waste collection calendar that was recently sent out to all homes in the city.

The annual calendar is used as a trusted source for residents to know which weeks their recycling or green waste bins will be picked up, but those using the calendar to find out when Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is this year will find the calendar is off by a week.

“Martin Luther King Jr. Day is NOT on Monday, January 14. It is on Monday, January 21,” Republic Services, which handles waste collection in Citrus Heights, clarified in an email sent out to neighborhood representatives on Tuesday. “Your waste services are unaffected by this holiday, so do not make any changes to when you put your bin out.”

As the calendar also mistakenly indicates city offices will be closed on Jan. 14, the waste collection agency also clarified that City Hall will be open on Jan. 14, but will be closed on Jan. 21.
