Sentinel staff report–
Citrus Heights police said a 38-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after a search warrant served in a residential neighborhood uncovered more than 500 marijuana plants being grown illegally.

Police said Xiao Hang Wang was arrested on suspicion of illegal cultivation of marijuana and maintaining a location for drug use and/or sales. A photo released by police appears to show a large room full of marijuana plants, with heat lamps and fans mounted on the ceiling and walls.

Authorities said the marijuana plants were being grown as part of an illegal commercial operation and estimated the 530 plants seized held a street value of more than $450,000.

The discovery was made during a search conducted on the 6500 block of Greencreek Way, located off Dewey Drive near Greenback Lane. The search warrant was served in partnership with officers from the police department’s Code Enforcement Unit and detectives with a California Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team.

As of Saturday, online inmate records for the Sacramento County Jail indicate Wang has been released from jail.
