LETTER: Water rate hike will mean more dead lawns, blight

Letter submitted by Kim Davis, Citrus Heights–
[RE: Citrus Heights Water District passes new fee increase, despite opposition; Dec. 6]  Currently about half of my neighbors do not water their lawns, trying to save money. Now, with this increase, more neighbors will discontinue watering their lawns.

Citrus Heights is worried about the blight in this city. The dead lawns only contribute to that blight.

Citrus Heights should have taken the $500,000 that went to the “renters oversight committee” and use it to subsidize the water rate increase and help keep Citrus Heights green and clean. The renters in my neighborhood take better care of the homes than owners do.
