Sentinel staff report–
Yalla Yalla Bakery & Mediterranean Spread is now open for business at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Antelope Road, opening its doors for the first time just before Thanksgiving.

Menu items include breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert options, with most items priced under $10. Several breakfast items appear on the menu, including a vegetarian manakish flat bread, along with the eatery’s signature 18-inch stone bread that is baked fresh on-site daily. Other items include chicken shawarma, gyros, hummus plates, falafel, and salads.

Those looking for an American twist can also purchase cheesecake by the pie or in a cup, as well as choose from several other pies and pastry items. Fries and a soda can also be added to any order.

The family owned eatery, located at 7800 Sunrise Blvd., suite 11, is owned and operated primarily by Rolanda Liddawi, along with the help of some family members. The cozy, newly remodeled 1200-square-foot location offers a half-dozen tables with chairs for indoor eating and was previously home to Bubbie’s Love Deli, a kosher-style restaurant that closed its doors in late 2017, and most recently by a burger joint that closed several months ago.

Q&A: What happened to Bubbie’s Love Deli in Citrus Heights?

Ten days after opening, Yalla Yalla had already earned an average of five-out-of-five stars on Yelp, with reviewers highlighting the chicken shawarma, vegetarian options, pies and desserts. A gyro plate ordered on Friday night took about five minutes to wait in line and 15 minutes to prepare, so those looking for a quick meal may want to place a phone order or plan on allowing some extra wait time.

Liddawi said customers should expect to wait about 10-15 minutes on average, since all food is made-to-order.

Yalla Yalla is currently open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Liddawi said she soon plans to open earlier in the morning to accommodate an expanded breakfast menu.
