Sentinel staff report–
The City of Citrus Heights is advising residents and motorists of PG&E gas line work on Antelope Road this Wednesday and Thursday that will restrict eastbound traffic near Rusch Park down to one lane during the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

According to the city, Antelope Road will be restricted to one lane in the eastbound direction during the work. Turns at Poplar Avenue will also be controlled by flaggers during the closure.

City Engineer Stu Hodgkins told The Sentinel on Wednesday that the work involves a “valve replacement” being conducted by PG&E on a gas line at the intersection of Antelope Road and Poplar Avenue. In a followup email from Hodgkins with additional details about the project, the work was described as “repairing a gas leak on an existing facility.”

Asked whether the gas leak posed any danger to the public, Hodgkins said “It is our understanding that this is a routine repair and there is no apparent risk from the leak as is or during the repair efforts.”

Although night work is scheduled to conclude by Friday morning, Hodgkins said repaving of the affected area following the work will likely be conducted during daytime hours.
