Latest police logs include a man’s ex-wife reportedly taking out a life insurance policy on him, an arson incident at a local park, a firefighter having his phone stolen while responding to a grass fire, and a fight at a gas station involving one party grabbing a fire extinguisher and spraying it on the other party.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018. Additional logs for Sept. 22-24 are linked below.
Tuesday, September 25, 2018: Total of 77 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 14 calls regarding suspicious activities, 28 disturbance-related, 9 homeless/transient-related, 5 petty thefts, no grand thefts, 1 burglary, 6 assault reports, and no reports of domestic violence.
12:50 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Sprouts Farmers Market on Greenback Ln. A caller playing Pokemon in a vehicle shortly before 1 a.m. was approached by a transient who reportedly said “That’s the kind of (expletive) that gets you shot,” and then walked off.
8:52 a.m., Graffiti Private Property, London Hair Faire on Fair Oaks Blvd. Gang-related graffiti was reported on the front windows of a hair salon near the corner of Greenback Lane and Fair Oaks Blvd.
9:20 a.m., Vandalism, Blue Springs Wy. Police were contacted about a possible hate crime involving vandalism to a 2002 Toyota Tacoma, which had reportedly been “smashed and etched with several racial slurs.” The vehicle was parked on a small court off Blue Springs Way, on the northern outskirts of the city.
10:40 a.m., Assault w/Weapon, Chevron at Auburn/Greenback. Two men were involved in a physical confrontation at the Chevron gas station at Auburn Boulevard and Greenback Lane. One of the men reportedly “grabbed a fire extinguisher and sprayed it on another male.”
11:15 a.m., Stolen Vehicle at Rusch Park. A Toyota Tundra was reportedly stolen from a parking lot at Rusch Park while the owner stopped to use the bathroom at the park. The caller advised police that when he got to the bathroom, he turned around and saw his vehicle leaving the park. He said keys had been left inside the truck.
12:04 p.m., Petty Theft, Sylvan Oaks Library on Auburn Blvd. A firefighter reported having his phone stolen while responding to a call of a grass fire near the library. He tracked the phone leaving on Greenback Lane towards Auburn Boulevard, but the phone was then turned off and unable to be tracked.
5:08 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Rollingwood Blvd. A man called from Las Vegas, Nevada, to report that his ex-wife had opened a life insurance policy on him.
5:51 p.m., Petty Theft, Joann Fabrics on Sunrise Blvd. A “grab and run” incident occurred at Joann Fabrics, with one or more suspects reportedly running off with an unspecified number of shirts.
7:25 p.m., Arson, Arcade Creek Park. A fire was reported in the Arcade Creek Park preserve area, located off Sunrise Boulevard on Bonham Circle. The incident was listed as arson, although no other details were provided in the log description.
10:08 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Round Table Pizza on Sunrise Blvd. Police were contacted about a man who was allegedly punching windows at Round Table Pizza after being told to leave the business’s bathrooms. The man also reportedly challenged an employee to a fight and made death threats. He left pushing a cart towards McDonald’s.
