Sentinel staff report–
Residents on a small court near C-Bar-C Park were evacuated Thursday morning after a gas line break sent flames shooting into the air, within several yards of two homes on Amsell Court.

Video posted on social media by Metro Fire showed flames shooting up to 15 feet in the air, located next to a driveway in front of a home on the 8300 block of Amsell Court. The incident occurred around 10 a.m., with Metro Fire reporting the blaze was extinguished shortly before 11 a.m., after PG&E shut off the gas.

According to a report in The Sacramento Bee, the rupture was caused by digging in the area. A SMUD line worker performing a repair on a nearby street light reportedly suffered “non-critical” burn injuries from the blaze and was taken to a hospital.
