Citrus Heights Police Logs: tree climber, dancing transients, vacant homes

Latest police logs include reports of a transient woman dancing and urinating in the parking lot at Sunrise Mall, a man up in a tree near Sam’s Club accused of trespassing, and security at an apartment complex nabbing two suspects who broke into a laundry room.

The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018. Additional logs for Aug. 28 to Sept. 5 are linked below.

Thursday, September 6, 2018: Total of 53 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 16 calls regarding suspicious activities, 17 disturbance-related, 10 homeless/transient-related, 2 petty thefts, no grand thefts, 2 burglaries, 3 assault reports, and no reports of domestic violence.

12:41 a.m., Burglary, Birdcage Village Apartments. Police were contacted after apartment security personnel detained a male and female who allegedly broke into the laundry room shortly after midnight.

10:25 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Bank Of America on Kingswood Dr. An upset customer was refusing to leave after the bank refused to release a hold on a check.

11:04 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Super Stop Liquor on Auburn Blvd. A 45-year-old woman was reportedly laying on the floor of the convenience store, “screaming and cursing.” Police were advised that the woman had been drinking.

11:09 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Basswood Wy. Police were contacted about transient activity at a vacant home near Westwood Park, with homeless individuals reportedly seen regularly going in and out of the house. The caller said the front door “has a padlock on it but the front door is open.”

11:39 a.m., Petty Theft, Salishan Apartments on Kilarney Ln. A caller told police he had about 120 prescription pain killer pills taken from a bottle and replaced with Asprin pills. The incident occurred “within the last few weeks,” and a roommate was listed as a possible suspect.

11:55 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Sunrise Mall. A transient woman near the Macy’s Men’s store at Sunrise Mall was reportedly “dancing around the parking lot and urinating.” The woman was described as wearing a backpack, shorts and “some sort of hat.”

12:21 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, former China Buffet on Sunrise Blvd. Police were advised of an ongoing issue with a transient loitering and going through the dumpster at the now-vacant China Buffet building on Sunrise Boulevard. The incident was also listed as a possible code enforcement issue with the vacant business.

12:59 p.m., Shoplifting, Sunrise Mall. Police were contacted after a suspect was detained for shoplifting at the Macy’s Women’s store on the south side of Sunrise Mall. The suspect did not have ID.

1:11 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Sam’s Club on Greenback Ln. A store manager called police to report that a man was in a tree near SAS Shoes. The manager described the individual as a white male adult with “a lot of items,” and said he was willing to sign a trespass notice.

5:21 p.m., Burglary, 24 Hour Fitness on Auburn Blvd. A man had his car keys reportedly stolen from a gym locker while working out at 24 Hour Fitness on Auburn Boulevard. Front desk staff said similar incidents had been reported at another gym location in Roseville.

7:55 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, San Simeon Drive. Police were contacted by a man who said his live-in girlfriend had requested to take his car about six hours ago to run a quick errand, but she then allegedly refused to return the car and was not responding to calls or texts.

8:38 p.m., Suspicious Vehicle at CHPD on Fountain Square Dr. A suspicious vehicle was reported in one of the parking lots outside the police department on Fountain Square Drive. The black Toyota Camry was occupied by a female driver and a male passenger who were both “looking at their phones.”

9:08 p.m., Disturbance Noise, Sun Hill Drive. Loud music was reportedly being played at a vacant home on Sun Hill Drive over a period of four days. The caller believed the landlord was playing the music as a way “to keep people from breaking inside.”

11:23 p.m., Driving Under the Influence, Sunrise Woods Apartments on Sunrise Blvd. A woman suspected of DUI was reportedly observed hitting a parked car at the Sunrise Woods Apartment Complex, and then re-parking in the complex. Police were advised that the woman was still on scene at the time of the call.
