Sentinel staff report–
Want a free car wash? Beginning Aug. 1 and continuing through Aug. 10, the newly built Quick Quack Car Wash near Antelope Road and Interstate 80 will be offering free washes to anyone who drives up.

The car wash officially opens Aug. 1 at 7882 Lichen Drive, but has been in operation since July 16 with a “soft opening,” according to Travis Kimball, Quick Quack’s chief marketing officer. Kimball confirmed the new location will be offering 10 days of free washes, beginning Aug. 1, but said customers driving through during the soft opening will have to pay regular price for individual washes.

The company’s grand opening free-wash special has been standard during its prior openings at other locations. The Roseville-based company currently has one other location in Citrus Heights and a total of 50 in five states: Utah, Texas, California, Arizona and Colorado.

According to Quick Quack’s website, standard hours of operation at the new Lichen Drive location will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., likely with shorter hours during the winter season.

The new car wash was approved by the city’s planning commission in April of last year, for development on a then-vacant 1.8-acre parcel near Raley’s. A site plan approved by the city shows the car wash with a 108-foot tunnel going through a 3,500-square-foot building. At least a dozen free vacuums are also available under large shade canopies adjacent to the building.

Kimball said the new car wash utilizes a reclamation system to recycle about 90 gallons of water per vehicle wash, leaving just 12-20 gallons being sent to the sewer system per wash.
