Citrus Heights Police Logs: water balloons, nunchucks, homeless, arrests

Latest police logs include reports of a homeless man swinging nunchucks on Sunrise Boulevard, a wallet and laptop being stolen from a motorcycle, and a neighbor complaining about water balloons being lobbed at her car.

The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for July 17, 2018.

Tuesday, July 17th, 2018: Total of 67 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 17 calls regarding suspicious activities, 18 disturbance-related, 9 homeless-related, 1 grand theft, 1 petty theft, 5 assault reports, and 2 domestic violence reports.

7:00 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Family Taekwondo on Sunrise Blvd. A homeless man in his 50s was reportedly observed “twirling nunchucks” outside of a martial arts center around 7 a.m. Pieces of the nunchucks were “flying off” as the man twirled them around, so the caller advised they were likely made of foam or had a foam covering. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.

9:14 a.m., Driving Under the Influence, Sunrise Mall. A silver BMW was reportedly observed running red lights and crashing into the center divider on northbound Sunrise Boulevard near the mall. Disposition listed: arrest.

10:39 a.m., Homeless Camp, B Uppal Insurance on Uplands Wy. A homeless camp with blankets and “feces all over” was reported near an insurance office behind the Sunrise Village shopping center. No one was occupying the camp at the time police were notified, but the caller believed the camp to be active. Disposition listed: advised.

10:58 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Smoley/Lauralyn. People were reportedly living out of an RV that was parked several blocks away from Woodside K-8 school. The RV had no license plates and someone had spray painted “TOW AWAY” on it. Disposition listed: assisted.

11:08 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, Tiara Wy. Police were contacted by a woman who said her neighbor’s children were allegedly “intentionally hitting her vehicle with water balloons.” The woman was “very frustrated” about the issue and said she had tried to contact the children’s parents, but they would not answer the door. The phone line disconnected while police were talking to the woman. Disposition listed: advised.

1:31 p.m., Petty Theft, Mariposa Ave. A caller notified police that a silverware set had been missing since April. The caller suspected a landscaper was the culprit, but did not have any evidence. Disposition listed: checks ok.

2:34 p.m., Collision Unknown Injury, O’Reilly Auto Parts on Greenback Ln. An officer responded to a collision involving a vehicle vs. bicyclist. Injuries were unknown. Disposition listed: assisted.

3:01 p.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Sunrise Recreation & Parks on Antelope Rd. Police were notified about an ongoing camping issue involving a pair of motorhomes parked on parks district property. When asked to leave, they reportedly said “it is their right to park” at the location. Disposition listed: advised.

4:06 p.m., Grand Theft, Woodmore Oaks/Tarocco. A pair of Samsung phones, as well as a wallet and laptop were reportedly stolen from a motorcycle. Police were told that the phone was being tracked to a nearby residence and the caller said he/she was en route to the location. Disposition listed: assisted.

8:41 p.m., Domestic Violence, Greenback Gardens Apartments. A caller told police their neighbors were in a loud verbal argument with screaming, which sounded like it was getting physical. Disposition listed: arrest.

11:04 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Scoreboard Bar on Auburn Blvd. A homeless man in a wheelchair was reportedly refusing to leave the bar and was yelling at people and “threw his laundry all over the bar.” When police were contacted, the man had moved outside but had his belongings still inside. Disposition listed: advised.
