The Citrus Heights Veterans Community Center has planned an upcoming Armed Forces Day fundraiser dinner on May 19, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the center’s location on Sylvan Road.

The 2nd Annual Armed Forces Day Spaghetti Feed and Wine Tasting Event has been dubbed “one of our most important fundraisers of the year” on the center’s website and promises an evening of wine, food, socializing, and fundraising to support local veterans.

According to a press release about the event, funds raised will help with extensive exterior renovations needed at the center, which once served as the old 1862 Sylvan School House. The renovations will also allow the center to be open full time to better accommodate educational programs and other activities to help veterans.

Headed up by Jim and Jeanne Rounsavell, the center is designed to provide a place for veterans to congregate, access services, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy various events and activities. Currently, the center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased at the Veterans Community Center, or by calling Jeanne Rounsavell at (916) 726-7876.
