Latest police logs include vandalism incidents at two local coffee shops, multiple reports of fraudulent checks being cashed at a check cashing business on Auburn Boulevard, several arrests for theft and shoplifting at Sunrise Mall, and a family’s plans for a 1-year-old’s birthday party at Rusch Park being ruined by a large group of transients who allegedly refused to leave the area reserved for the party.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletin for March 14-16, 2018.
Friday, March 16, 2018: Total of 69 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 24 disturbance-related, 14 homeless-related, 14 suspicious activity calls, 3 burglaries, 6 petty thefts, no grand thefts, 2 assault reports, and 6 collisions.
9:00 a.m., Fraud/Forgery, California Check Cashing on Auburn Blvd. Police were advised of three separate incidents where suspects had allegedly cashed fraudulent checks at a check cashing business on Auburn Boulevard. The caller requested police reports be filed for each and said suspect information could be provided. Disposition listed: assisted.
10:01 a.m., Indecent Exposure, Walmart on Auburn Blvd. A female caller told police that a man in a car next to her in the Walmart parking lot had exposed himself to her and then drove off. He was described as a white male adult, driving a small white SUV, but no further description was provided. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.
10:08 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Rusch Park. A “large amount” of homeless people were reportedly refusing to leave an area of Rusch Park where a family had rented a space for a 1-year-old’s birthday party. A second call was reported five minutes later, putting the number at around 15 transients who were “sleeping on the tables at the park.” Disposition: gone on arrival.
11:58 a.m., Vandalism, Java Cherry on Van Maren Ln. Police were advised that a window to the coffee shop had been broken overnight, although no access was made, nothing was taken, and the alarm did not trigger. Similar incidents with the window being smashed at the location have been reported over the past five years. Disposition listed: advised.
12:22 p.m., Petty Theft, Sears at Sunrise Mall. An arrest was made related to a petty theft that occurred at the Sears store inside Sunrise Mall. No other information was listed. Disposition listed: arrest.
11:01 p.m., Driving Under the Influence, Antelope/Saybrook. A vehicle reportedly collided with a tree near the intersection of Antelope Road and Saybrook Drive. The incident was listed as DUI-related. Disposition listed: report taken.
Thursday, March 15, 2018: Total of 54 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 14 disturbance-related, 4 homeless-related, 12 suspicious activity calls, 3 burglaries, 2 petty thefts, no grand thefts, 2 assault reports, and 8 collisions.
4:41 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Cloverleaf Wy. A caller reported that two individuals were “having sex” inside a vehicle parked near Westwood Park, shortly before 5 a.m. Disposition listed: report taken.
10:21 a.m., Burglary, Smashburger on Sunrise Blvd. An unknown suspect reportedly removed a window at the Smashburger restaurant on Sunrise Boulevard, although no entry into the building was made. Disposition listed: report taken.
12:32 p.m., Petty Theft, Kohls at Greenback/San Juan. A caller advised police that three unknown suspects had asked him if he wanted to buy heroin from them. When he said no, they allegedly stole $300 in cash from him. The caller told police he then chased the trio to a nearby car wash and “has possession of the suspects bikes.” Disposition listed: report taken.
1:20 p.m., Vandalism, Starbucks on Auburn Blvd. Several people in a group of about 25-30 juveniles were reportedly spraying graffiti on a pillar in front of the Starbucks at Sylvan Corners. A witness pointed out three suspects who were responsible; one of whom denied being involved. Disposition listed: assisted.
2:16 p.m., Assault, Sylvan Middle School. Police were notified that a student on campus reportedly “texted her brother to come to the school and assault another student.” Disposition listed: advised.
3:32 p.m., Assault w/Weapon, Sunrise Vista/Greenback. A man reportedly broke out a window at a vacant building next to Sacramento Black Rifle and then threw a bat at a security guard. Disposition listed: report taken.
3:42 p.m., Shoplifting, JCPenney. A shoplifting suspect at the JCPenney store inside Sunrise Mall was arrested. No further details were listed in the incident log.
4:17 p.m., Petty Theft, Longford Drive. A rear license plate was reported stolen from a 2000 Honda Civic that was parked on a residential side street off Greenback Lane. Disposition: report taken.
5:02 p.m., Collision Non-Injury, Sunrise/Old Auburn. A woman called police to say that her husband had just hit a city sign while the two were driving on Sunrise Boulevard near Old Auburn Road. The woman and her husband remained on scene after hitting the sign, which had a “bike lane” message on it. The call was referred to the city’s general services department.
10:23 p.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Brockwood Wy. Police were notified that a vehicle was parked in an intersection and a person was inside the vehicle texting on a cellphone. The intersection was at Brockwood Way and Annwood Court, located near Antelope Road and Saybrook Drive. Disposition listed: assisted.
