Police: missing at-risk senior in Citrus Heights found

Following a helicopter-assisted search and missing person alert being issued Friday afternoon, Citrus Heights police said a missing 82-year-old woman was found safe and returned to her family.

In an initial missing person alert sent out around 3 p.m. Friday, police said the woman, Lyudmila Chernykh, was considered at-risk and may have been confused due to a memory impairment. She had last been seen near Mariposa Avenue and Twin Oaks Avenue around noon on Friday.

Shortly before 4 p.m., police announced on social media that the woman had been found.

“Lyudmila has been located! Thanks to all who called in,” police said in a tweet. “Be proud of yourselves Citrus Heights… you did great!!!”
