Latest police logs in Citrus Heights include a rash of burglaries, arrests of several shoplifters, suspicious activity outside Walmart, and a drunk teenager crashing into a parked vehicle with his scooter.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletin for Dec. 27, 2017. As of Monday morning, this was the latest log date police made available online. Previous log summaries for Dec. 24-26 can be viewed by clicking here.
December 27, 2017: Total of 68 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 7 disturbance-related, 5 homeless-related, 14 suspicious activity calls, 9 burglaries, 6 petty thefts, 2 grand thefts, no assault reports, and 6 collisions.
7:49 a.m., Burglary, United Auto Body. An in-progress burglary at an auto repair shop on the 5900 block of Auburn Boulevard was interrupted by a caller who phoned police while following the suspect. Disposition listed: arrest.
10:13 a.m., Vehicle burglary, Montage Apartments. About $10,000 of tools were reportedly stolen from a work truck during a vehicle burglary at an apartments complex on the 12800 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard. Disposition listed: unable to locate.
10:16 a.m., Graffiti on Public Property, Old Auburn/Coral Oak. A happy face was reportedly spray painted in black on a stop sign at the intersection of Old Auburn Road and Coral Oak Way. Disposition listed: “refer other agency.”
10:43 a.m., Stolen vehicle, Sunrise Woods Apartments. A gold 2000 GMC Sierra with black Moto Metal aftermarket rims was stolen from the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 7800 block of Sunrise Boulevard. A neighbor reportedly heard the stolen truck leaving around 3 a.m. Disposition listed: report taken.
10:58 a.m., Suspicious circumstances, Lichen Drive. Police were notified that three transients were trying to get into a vehicle in a parking lot through a broken window. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.
1:45 p.m., Suspicious vehicle, Walmart. A caller contacted police after observing suspicious activity involving a man and a woman in a vehicle with a screwdriver in the ignition and two open cans of beer in the vehicle. While the caller was taking a photo of the vehicle, the occupants reportedly said “it’s not stolen,” and then left. The vehicle involved was a gold 1997 Ford Taurus. Disposition listed: assisted.
2:28 p.m., Harassing phone calls, Autumn Ridge Apartments. Police were contacted after a caller received a phone call by someone who reportedly threatened to shoot the caller with an AR-15 rifle. Disposition listed: advised.
3:33 p.m., Petty theft at Kohl’s. A female suspect reportedly stole items from the Kohl’s store on San Juan Avenue and was being chased by a caller who contacted police while in a verbal argument with the suspect. Disposition listed: arrest.
4:47 p.m., Suspicious circumstances, Farmgate/Primrose. A man in his 50s was reportedly “working on machine guns” in his driveway. Disposition listed: advised.
5:24 p.m., Robbery, Sears at Sunrise Mall. A loss prevention worker attempting to stop a shoplifter was reportedly pushed over by the suspect, who then fled on foot. Disposition listed: report taken.
8:15 p.m., Fraud/forgery, Safeway. Police were contacted after a customer apparently handed a Safeway employee a counterfeit $100 bill and then refused to leave and insisted on getting the fake bill back. Disposition listed: cancelled.
9:06 p.m., Intoxicated person, Fireside Lanes. A drunk teen reportedly ran into a parked vehicle with his scooter, causing damage to the vehicle. Disposition listed: assisted.
9:22 p.m., Shoplifting, Target. A shoplifter was caught by loss prevention at Target with approximately $1200 in stolen items. Disposition listed: arrest.
10:54 p.m., Collision, Yarrow Way. An arrest was made after a vehicle overturned on Yarrow Way, near Fair Oaks Boulevard and Oak Avenue. Possible injuries were described as unknown. Additional information was not listed in the police log.
