Sentinel staff report–
Looking for a way to get rid of your Christmas tree? There’s several options in Citrus Heights for recycling live trees.
Republic Services, which handles waste collection for the City of Citrus Heights, is offering free recycling of live Christmas trees from Dec. 26 through Jan. 12, 2018. Live trees — excluding flocked or decorated trees — can be placed at the curbside next to trash collection bins for free pickup. Live trees can also be cut into pieces and placed in green bins anytime.
The Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troop 215 is also hosting their annual Christmas tree recycling fundraiser at Sunrise Mall. Trees can be dropped off behind Macy’s Women’s Store between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Dec. 30-31, and Jan. 6-7. Donations are typically received in conjunction with the effort to help raise funds.
Those wishing to dispose of flocked trees can do so at no charge at the following locations in Sacramento County:
- North Area Recovery Station, 4450 Roseville Rd., 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Jan. 6-7 only)
- Kiefer Landfill, 12701 Kiefer Blvd., 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Jan. 6-7 only)
- Elder Creek Transfer and Recovery site, 8642 Elder Creek Rd., 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Jan. 6 only)
