Annual Marathon to close roads Sunday morning in Citrus Heights, region
The 35th annual California International Marathon will take place on Dec. 3, resulting in area road closures for about 3 hours Sunday morning. According to an advisory posted on the City of Citrus Heights’ website, the course will result in the closure of Oak Avenue from Wachtel to Fair Oaks, and Fair Oaks from Oak Avenue to Madison Avenue from about 6:55-9:45 a.m. Additional information is available on the Marathon’s website.
Citrus Heights man killed in Sonoma County off-road vehicle crash
A Citrus Heights man has been identified as the victim of a fatal off-road wreck in Sonoma County last weekend. Authorities said 27-year-old Thomas Chadd, of Citrus Heights, was intoxicated while riding with a female friend in a side-by-side ATV when he “apparently lost control and the all-terrain-vehicle rolled down a 100-foot embankment,” the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported.
Although Chadd’s friend was reportedly not injured in the accident, the California Highway Patrol said Chadd suffered “massive head injuries and died in the crash.” The vehicle was equipped with a roll bar.
San Juan Spartans lose to Liberty Ranch Hawks
San Juan Spartans lost 90-49 against Galt’s Liberty Ranch High School Hawks on Friday night. According to the Lodi News-Sentinel, top Spartan scorers were Damone Howard and Shawn Mitchell, who scored 11 points each. San Juan’s next game is scheduled for Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Mountain House, CA, versus the Mountain House High School Mustangs.
Suspected drug dealer, 18, arrested by CHPD
Detectives from the Citrus Heights Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit arrested an 18-year-old man on Wednesday after an investigation allegedly revealed him to be distributing methamphetamine in the city. Police said the suspect, Isaiah Shepherd, was arrested on the 7500 block of Greenback Lane for a narcotics sales warrant, which police had obtained after he allegedly sold methamphetamine to an undercover officer. A 31-year-old man was also arrested at the same time for possessing methamphetamine, illegal pharmaceutical drugs, and probation violation, police said.
