Sentinel staff report–
Grilled lamb, tri-tips, chicken wraps, pork kebabs and a variety of Armenian flavors and salads are now being served up at a new family owned grill house in Citrus Heights.

Owner Esther Muradyan says she had dreamed of opening a restaurant in her community, and as of Nov. 1, that dream came true, with Armenian Grill House opening its doors in the Birdcage shopping plaza.

“I love this city,” Muradyan in an interview on Thursday, noting that her family has lived in Citrus Heights for more than 10 years. “I have a passion to serve people and this is how we want to build a future for our kids.”

Muradyan, along with her husband Naz, opened the grill across from the Target store in the former Star Cafe. The menu features traditional Armenian food, including a variety of grilled meats, five different wrap options, and three salads — Armenian, Taboule, and yogurt salad. Dumplings and hummus are also listed, as well as low-carb and vegetarian options.

Although only open for a little over a week, the new restaurant has already earned an average 5-star rating from a total of 15 reviewers on Yelp. Popular picks include lamb kebabs, hummus, and lamb.

Muradyan cautions diners that her grill house is “not a fast-food” restaurant, so she recommends guests to expect a 15-minute wait for food that is cooked to order.

Armenian Grill House is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 a.m., and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. It is located at 5925 Birdcage Centre Ln., #109.
