On Tuesday, Citrus Heights police released surveillance images of suspects sought in connection with a $250,000 diamond heist that occurred in April.

Police said in an Oct. 3 news release that two men wearing masks and sunglasses “forced their way” into Kenny G & Company Jewelers at 5460 Sunrise Blvd. on April 21, 2017, at 8:57 a.m.

“Armed with a hammer and a taser-style stun gun, the suspects committed a take-over style robbery,” police said, resulting in the loss of diamonds valued at a quarter-million dollars. The two suspects then fled on foot, but were captured on video surveillance at a nearby bus stop, outside Smashburger at 5500 Sunrise Blvd.

Although surveillance images are poor in quality, police said enough can be seen to indicate that both suspects “dark colored mirrored sunglasses and matching work/gardening style gloves.” One suspect is described as a five-feet-nine-inch tall man, approximately 180-210 lbs. The other man is described as five-feet-six-inches tall and about 150-170 lbs.

Although the incident was not initially publicized in April by police, the department said assistance from the public is now being sought to help identify the two suspects believed to be responsible for the robbery. Sgt. Jason Baldwin told The Sentinel that police will typically “exhaust all our leads first before going to the public,” resulting in publicity of some crimes being delayed for longer lengths of time.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the department’s crime tip line at (916) 727-5524, where anonymous tips may be left.

Detective Nathan Hutson, the investigating officer, can also be contacted directly at (916) 727-5559.
