2017 Citrus Heights Police Logs: arson, mariachi music, grand theft

Latest police logs include reports of a man with a knife outside Grand Oaks Elementary, “mariachi music” causing a disturbance with neighbors on a dead-end street, grand theft at Rite Aid, an arson report of a neighbor setting another resident’s lawn on fire, and a woman finding 300 pieces of mail in the street.

The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for Sept. 14-21st.

September 21, 2017: Total of 84 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 17 disturbance-related, 11 homeless-related, 4 burglaries, 7 petty thefts, 1 grand theft, 2 assault reports, and 4 collisions.

3:24 a.m., Suspicious circumstances, A woman reportedly found a hammer and screwdriver near her front door and had also seen a silver Chevrolet Silverado drive by her home multiple times, and shine a light into her house while making a turn. Disposition listed: unfounded.

12:32 p.m., Robbery, Parkvale Way. A man who picked up a $5 bill he found on the street was subsequently assaulted by another man who reached into his vehicle and started punching him. The assailant also threatened to take the victim’s car. Disposition listed: report taken.

5:31 p.m., Arson, Brookhaven Way. A neighbor reportedly set another resident’s lawn on fire the previous morning. The grass was damaged, but the fire went out on its own. Disposition listed: report taken.

9:34 p.m., Disturbance loitering, Nation’s Giant Hamburgers on Sunrise Blvd. Two younger homeless men were reportedly seen jumping over a fence and into a nearby construction zone. They had climbed on top of construction equipment, but it was unknown what they were doing. Disposition listed: “gone on arrival.”

September 20, 2017: Total of 55 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 9 disturbance-related, 6 homeless-related, 1 burglary, 4 petty thefts, 1 grand theft, no assault reports, and 4 collisions.

8:07 a.m., Suspicious circumstances, Trovillion Street. A woman found about 300 pieces of mail in the street in front of a house on Trovillion Street, near Dewey Drive. The mail was reportedly from various areas all over northern California. Some of it had been previously opened. Disposition listed: advised.

11:34 a.m., Grand theft, Rite Aid at Sunrise/Arcadia. A theft of merchandise valued over $1,000 was reported at Rite Aid. The incident allegedly occurred the previous day and was captured on video. Disposition listed: report taken.

10:41 p.m., Noise Disturbance, Adobe Casa Ct. A resident on Adobe Casa Court, off Sperry Drive, reported that a neighbor was “playing mariachi music.” The music had reportedly been playing for several past nights as well. Disposition listed: advised.

September 19, 2017: Total of 51 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 12 disturbance-related, 7 homeless-related, no burglaries, 1 petty theft, no grand thefts, 2 assault reports, and 2 collisions.

3:10 p.m., Brandishing weapon, Grand Oaks Elementary on Rosswood Drive. A man by Grand Oaks Elementary was reportedly yelling in the street and holding a knife. Disposition listed: “unable to locate.”

3:21 p.m., Verbal disturbance, San Juan High School on Greenback Ln. A man in his mid-40s who was “wearing a sign against same-sex marriage” reportedly began arguing with some students outside San Juan High School and was “asking kids about their sexuality.” Disposition listed: checks ok.

7:09 p.m., Verbal disturbance, Edgewater Apartments on Sunrise Vista Drive. An area check was requested for three men who jumped into the pool at Edgewater Apartments and allegedly threatened a child. The men, all shirtless and in their swim trunks, then left the pool and began walking towards the nearby skate park. Disposition listed: “unable to locate.”

9:14 p.m., Noise Disturbance. Sayonara/Lialana. Several people who appeared to be using drugs were reportedly driving a tractor on Sayonara Drive and appeared to be “driving it into a building.” Disposition listed: checks ok.
