Part of Greenback Lane and Fountain Square Drive will be closed on Sunday, Aug. 27, to allow for a crane to lift massive concrete wall panels into place at the site of the future Dignity Health medical building in Citrus Heights.
In a news release, the City of Citrus Heights said westbound Greenback Lane will be reduced from three lanes down to one lane, beginning at 6 a.m. on Sunday and continuing until “no later” than 1 p.m. the same day. Southbound Fountain Square Drive will also be closed to thru traffic from City Center Drive to Greenback Lane.
All lanes are expected to reopen by 6 p.m. Sunday and the city said “no additional closures similar to this are anticipated during construction” of the building.
Dignity Health Spokeswoman Brooke Burgess said the panels being raised have been pre-cast on site and are three stories tall in size. Over what is expected to take three days, beginning Sunday, she said a crawler crane will be raising the panels to form the exterior of the building, and the panels will then be braced and secured to the slab.
Burgess said the 68,000-square-feet medical building is on schedule for a grand opening in spring 2019.
