Sentinel staff report–
Another large yard sale benefiting the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band will be held on the weekends of Aug. 26-27 and Sept. 1-4 this year.

Band Director Kody Tickner told The Sentinel the yard sale will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, at 7620 Linden Ave. in Citrus Heights. Thousands of items are typically offered at the sale each year, including appliances, clothing, toys, and furniture donated by band members and others in the community.

Proceeds from the sale go directly to support the band, helping provide for items like uniforms, instruments and liability insurance, according to Band Program Director Kathy Cook.

The fall yard sale is one of four general fundraisers the band organizes each year to help keep the all-volunteer band program free. Yard sales are typically held during the first two weekends in May, and again around Labor Day weekend each year. A spaghetti feed fundraiser is also held each March, and a ‘Howl-o-ween’ parade is held in October.

The band has become known for its performances at community events around the region, annually playing at the Citrus Heights Tree Lighting ceremony and organizing a flash-mob at Walmart each December.
