Called “one of the best family events” in the city each year by organizers, Citrus Heights’ annual Community Camp Out is scheduled to once again take over Rusch Park with an activity-filled overnight event this July 22 and 23.
According to organizer Forrest Allen, with the Residents’ Empowerment Association of Citrus Heights, campers can again expect swimming, crafts, games, face-painting, balloons and entertainment — along with a dinner barbecue and Sunday morning breakfast. He said an annual favorite, water balloon tossing, is also on schedule this year.
Citrus Heights police will also be at the event, and city council members have traditionally shown up to serve one of the meals provided to attendees. Telescopes on site will allow for star viewing opportunities at night.
Registration is $8 for adults and $6 for kids from age 2 to 17. Those wishing to register can do so by calling (916) 725-1581 or by visiting www.sunriseparks.com. Walk-up registration will also be accepted from 2-5 p.m. on July 22.
