A Citrus Heights teen has been arrested in connection with a Bay Area robbery and is charged with second-degree robbery, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, criminal threats and conspiracy.
On Friday, multiple Bay Area news outlets reported the arrest of five suspects — which included 18-year-old Vanessa Sanchez, of Citrus Heights, and a San Jose State University basketball player.
According to a KTVU Channel 2 report, police said Sanchez set the robbery up by leading the victim involved to a park where four other suspects were waiting in a vehicle. The man was then beaten and stripped of his cellphone, belt, wallet and credit cards.
One of the suspects also allegedly told the victim “they were going to come back and shoot him,” the station reported.
The Mercury News reported that while the victim was being interviewed by police, he checked his bank account and saw that one of the stolen cards had just been used at an In-N-Out located about two miles away.
Police went to the restaurant and located two suspect vehicles matching a description provided. The vehicles’ occupants were detained and subsequently arrested after police said the victim’s property was found inside.
Terrell Brown, the 19-year-old SJSU basketball player allegedly involved, was kicked off the team following the arrests, according to news reports.
