Latest Citrus Heights police logs in March include reports of a carjacking outside a church food closet, thieves reportedly stealing motor oil from a preschool on Old Auburn Road, a mob of panhandling transients on Greenback Lane, and a trio of knife-throwers outside an apartment complex.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins, from March 16 to March 23, 2017:
March 23, 2017: Total of 51 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 10 disturbance-related, 8 homeless-related, 4 burglaries, 2 petty thefts, no assault reports.
7:39 a.m., Burglary, Citrus Heights Preschool on Old Auburn Road. A report was made stating that an unspecified amount of motor oil had been stolen overnight from a patio area of the preschool. A backpack was reportedly left at the scene by suspects, but contents were unknown. Disposition listed: “Report taken.”
1:36 p.m., Reckless driving, Watson/Patton. A 10-year-old was reportedly holding on to the exterior roof rack of a silver Toyota minivan that was driving in the neighborhood. The child “seemed to be having fun” and did not appear distressed. Disposition listed: “Unable to locate.”
5:22 p.m., Carjacking, Twin Oaks Ave Baptist Church. A caller said a suspect with a gun reportedly had stolen a Ford Ranger from one of the church’s food closet customers. The customer reportedly had been in the vehicle, but got out and told the caller to phone police on his behalf. Disposition listed: “Report taken.”
March 21, 2017: Total of 60 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 20 disturbance-related, 7 homeless-related, burglaries, 3 petty thefts, 4 assault reports, 1 stolen vehicle report.
7:13 a.m., Stolen Trailer, Villaview Dr. A white utility trailer containing lawn care equipment was reported stolen overnight, by unknown suspects. Disposition listed: “Report taken.”
7:48 a.m., DUI report, Old Auburn Road. Police were notified of a driver “weaving in and out of lanes” on Old Auburn Road, just before Sunrise Boulevard. The vehicle had reportedly pulled into an apartment complex. Disposition listed: “Checks Ok.”
9:28 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Carolina’s Mexican Food. Approximately “10 transients” were reportedly asking customers for money outside Carolina’s Mexican Food restaurant on Greenback Lane. Disposition listed: “Advised.”
5:58 p.m. Robbery, Kohl’s store. A man in his 50’s was reportedly removing a security device from a robot vacuum inside the Kohl’s store at Greenback Lane and San Juan Avenue. The man had already stolen one vacuum and had walked back in for another one. A description of the suspect was provided to police. Disposition listed: “Assisted.”
March 20, 2017: Total of 47 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 16 disturbance-related, 1 homeless-related, 4 burglaries, 2 petty thefts, 2 assault reports, 3 stolen vehicles.
12:19 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Meadows Apartments. Three men were reportedly “throwing pocket knives at trees and almost hitting passing vehicles” while sitting at the entrance to Meadows Apartments near Greenback Lane. They were also possibly smoking marijuana. Disposition listed: “Report taken.”
5:41 p.m., Assault, Rusch Park. A passerby reported seeing a man punching a woman in the face at Rusch Park on Auburn Boulevard. Disposition listed: “Unable to locate.”
