23-year-old Levi Pierce remains in custody after being arrested last month in connection with a series of early morning burglaries in Citrus Heights. His bail has been set at $1 million.
According to Sacramento County Superior Court records, Pierce faces 25 counts of burglary-related charges — 24 of which are listed as first-degree felonies. He was arraigned and appointed a public defender on Feb. 21, with an upcoming court appearance set for March 7.
In 2015, he plead “no contest” to a burglary-related felony charge that earned him five years probation. While still on probation, Citrus Height police believe he committed 14 burglaries and 11 more attempted burglaries — all occurring in January and February of this year.
As reported on The Sentinel last month, police allege Pierce entered more than a dozen residences near Calvary Cemetery and Lakeview Village Mobile Home Park, taking small items and cash during early morning hours. Police allege he entered many of the residences through unlocked doors and windows and believe he was using open space and creek areas for his escape.
Lt. Jason Russo said an initial news release from police inadvertently stated Pierce was believed to be responsible for burglaries dating back to “January 2016.” He later confirmed with The Sentinel that the release should have read “January 2017.”
The lieutenant said police do not believe there are additional victims tied to Pierce’s alleged crime spree, but the department encourages anyone who may have been a victim of a recent residential burglary to file a police report, if they have not already done so.
Police said evidence was located during Pierce’s arrest and efforts will be made to reunite victims with their property.
