Citrus Heights police have announced the arrest of a 23-year-old man believed to be responsible for a series of residential burglaries in the city.
In a news release issued Thursday afternoon, police said the suspect, Levi Pierce, is believed to be tied to 14 burglaries and 11 attempted burglaries, dating back as far as January of last year. Pierce was already on probation for burglary.
“The brazen behavior this suspect exhibited while committing residential burglaries in the middle of the night with home owners asleep was concerning,” said Police Chief Ron Lawrence in a written statement. “His arrest should bring some reassurance to those people he victimized and I hope our criminal justice system holds him accountable for his actions.”
Police said evidence was located during Pierce’s arrest and efforts will be made to reunite victims with their property.
As previously reported on The Sentinel, the Citrus Heights Police Department announced last week that “additional resources and strategies” were being deployed to capture a suspect in connection with a series of recent early morning home burglaries. A map depicting areas apparently targeted by the suspect was released by police, showing highlighted areas around Calvary Cemetery and Twin Creeks Park, as well as the Lakeview Village Mobile Home Park, off Van Maren Lane.
Pierce is alleged to have taken small items and cash during the burglaries, and police believe he was using open space and creek areas for his escape.
