Police Sgt. Jason Baldwin said further details would be released Tuesday morning, but said the incident does not appear to be related to a series of robberies police announced last week.
A resident who lives near the crime scene told The Sentinel that “at least 10 cops” as well as Metro Fire responded to the scene on Glen Alta Way, located off Garry Oak Drive.
“Somebody came out on a gurney and ended up in the back of the ambulance with a very bloody face,” the resident said, preferring to only give her first name, Donna. “I couldn’t tell what else was hurt on his body; I don’t know if he was shot, stabbed, or beat up really bad.”
Sgt. Baldwin confirmed a suspect was taken into custody, but a name has not been released.
The incident is believed to have occurred around 1 p.m. Monday, with heavy police activity and sirens heard on Old Auburn Road traveling towards the area where the home invasion was reported.
