Citrus Heights police said they are deploying “additional resources and strategies” to capture a suspect sought in a series of recent early morning home burglaries, with the most recent incident occurring Feb. 9 around 3 a.m. on Ironbark Ct. near Interstate 80.

“We believe there is one suspect responsible for committing these crimes using the open space and creek areas for his escape,” police said in a news release on Thursday authored by Lt. Jason Russo. “We ask the citizens who live or frequent the west side of Citrus Heights, adjacent to Highway 80, to be on the lookout… and report any suspicious activity to the police department.”

The suspect has allegedly been taking small items and cash during the burglaries and is described by police as a “white or Hispanic male wearing dark clothing and a light blue or gray hooded sweatshirt.” Police said during some of the burglaries, the suspect was seen inside and fled upon contact with residents.

A map depicting areas apparently targeted by the suspect was released by police, showing highlighted areas around Calvary Cemetery and Twin Creeks Park, as well as the Lakeview Village Mobile Home Park, off Van Maren Lane.

Lt. Russo said entry has been made into many of the residences through unlocked doors and windows. He reminded residents to lock doors and windows to help prevent theft.
