The Logan’s Roadhouse franchise location in Citrus Heights will not be closing, despite the company announcing it would file for bankruptcy earlier this month.
“We know there may be some concern in the public eye related to some reports of the Logan’s Roadhouse Corporation announcement to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and reorganization,” a notice posted on the front window of the Citrus Heights Logan’s states. “We are proud to be a franchisee of the Logan’s Roadhouse brand and the news and publications surrounding Logan’s corporation will not affect our restaurants in California.”
The notice was posted by J&A Food Service, a Redding-based company which owns the Citrus Heights Logan’s franchise. According to its website, J&A also owns a variety of over 40 restaurant franchise locations in Oregon and California, including several Applebee’s restaurants and at least a half-dozen Burger King locations.
As reported in the Sacramento Business Journal, the Logan’s location at 5511 Sunrise Blvd. was listed for lease on Loopnet.com last week, but now shows the property is “off-market.” The listing agent, Aaron Dan, confirmed via email Wednesday that the property was no longer available, but did not include any additional details as to the reason.
An employee with J&A who was reached by phone Wednesday confirmed the Citrus Heights location would remain open, but referred additional questions to the company’s marketing director, Pam Schalo. A voicemail message was not immediately returned.
The franchise ownership group’s website, JAfoodservice.com, currently lists several job opportunities for its Citrus Heights location. Hiring positions listed include a line and prep cook, host or hostess, server, and a kitchen staff position.
J&A’s other franchises in California include Logan’s restaurants in Fresno, Sacramento, Elk Grove, Chico, Fontana, and Redding — all of which are unaffected by the bankruptcy. According to Logan’s corporate website, there are 26 franchise-owned locations and 230 company-owned locations nationwide.
Postings on Logan’s corporate Facebook page indicate several restaurants in various states have already been closed, but the company plans to keep more than 200 of its restaurants open. Logan’s says the bankruptcy filing process is designed to restructure its debt and position the company for “long-term success.”
