Citrus Heights police said they are searching for a driver allegedly involved in a hit-and-run collision with a pedestrian that occurred at the intersection of Greenback Lane and Birdcage Street on Sunday.
Police said officers received a report of the collision around 12:07 a.m. on June 19, where “witnesses reported seeing a westbound vehicle on Greenback strike a pedestrian who was crossing Greenback against a red pedestrian crossing signal.”
The vehicle reportedly “pulled to the right side of the road immediately after the collision, but fled the scene moments later,” according to a news release issued by police on Monday afternoon.
Police said the 39-year-old pedestrian involved was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. His name has not been released, but police said he is a Citrus Heights resident.
According to police, the vehicle being sought is a dark green sedan, which had multiple occupants. It was last seen leaving the scene westbound on Greenback Lane with damage to its front end.
