La Placita Dos closes Citrus Heights restaurant location

A popular Mexican restaurant has permanently closed its doors in Citrus Heights, with diners being directed to the eatery’s remaining location a few miles away in Orangevale.

“We are officially closed,” a recorded message at the location tells callers. “We’d like to thank you for all the wonderful memories and support here at La Placita Dos.”

The restaurant, formerly open at 8036 Greenback Ln., boasted 4-out-of-5 stars from 151 reviewers on Yelp, and a 7.7-out-of-10 rating by reviewers on Foursquare. Fresh chips and salsa, a huge “Patrick Burrito” and a free kids plate for children under age 3, were listed among top favorites by reviewers.

A reason for the Citrus Heights location’s closure was not publicly listed, and phone messages left at both locations on Wednesday were not returned by Thursday afternoon.

La Placita’s original location in Orangevale is currently undergoing a remodel project, with an anticipated opening date of April 1, according to a recorded message. It is located at 9272 Greenback Ln.
