Crime reports this week included a shoplifter making off with $700 worth of LEGO toys, vandalism at San Juan High School, and a fleeing theft suspect at AutoZone who reportedly tried to run over several employees.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins, from March 14 through March 17, 2016:
March 14, 2016: Total of 49 incidents listed
Incident report categories of note: 14 disturbance-related, 9 homeless-related, 5 burglaries, 3 petty theft/shoplifting, 1 robbery, 1 stolen vehicle.
1:09 a.m., Robbery, 7440 Club. Five men had reportedly jumped another man at the 7440 Club on Auburn Boulevard and stolen the keys to his girlfriend’s car. Disposition listed: report taken.
4:36 p.m., Brandishing weapon, Goodwill. A caller said a man was “waving pliers” in the parking lot of Goodwill on Auburn Boulevard, and had “threatened” the manager of the store with the pliers. Disposition listed: refer to other agency.
5:14 p.m., Vehicle burglary, gas station. A caller said he found two suspects with the doors open to his van when he came out of the Shell gas station store at Antelope Road and Auburn Boulevard. After confronting the pair, they reportedly “showed him an unknown type of weapon.” The suspects’ vehicle was a red Dodge Durango. Disposition listed: assisted.
8:21 p.m., DUI, Sunrise Blvd. A white pickup truck reportedly hit a curb and ended up with a flat tire on Sunrise Boulevard near Twin Oaks Avenue. The driver was listed as a man in his mid-40’s. Disposition: arrest.
March 15, 2016: Total of 56 incidents listed.
17 disturbance-related reports (verbal, loitering), 5 homeless-related, 9 shoplifting/petty thefts, 4 assaults, 3 vehicle burglaries, 2 stolen vehicle-related, 0 robberies.
4:34 p.m., Vandalism, Mariposa Elementary. A caller reported that a dog had jumped on their car while waiting to pick up a child from Mariposa Elementary. The car door was scratched and the caller was “unable to obtain subject information for insurance info.” Disposition listed: advised.
10:23 p.m., Assault with a weapon, Community Dr. A caller reported that while trying to pass a pickup truck that was stopped in the street on Community Drive, the driver of the pickup “started screaming” and then “threw the vehicle in reverse and tried to ram him.” Basic description information was provided, but the caller was not sure he could identify the driver. Disposition listed: unable to locate.
11:00 p.m., Harassing phone calls, Kingswood Dr. — A caller requested an officer call him regarding a female “who keeps texting him and harassing him.” Disposition listed: civil problem.
March 16, 2016: Total of 51 incidents listed
Incident categories of note: 23 disturbance-related reports, 7 homeless-related, 5 assault reports, 4 petty thefts, 2 stolen vehicle reports, 0 robberies.
3:41 p.m., Assault with a weapon, AutoZone. A fleeing theft suspect reportedly tried to “run back over” several employees at the AutoZone on Sunrise Boulevard. Two employees were hit by a vehicle, but were listed as declining medical. Disposition: report taken.
6:14 p.m., Petty Theft, Starbucks. A man in his late-20’s reportedly took some money from the tip jar at the Starbucks inside Barnes & Noble. A description of the suspect was given. Disposition listed: advised.
7:15 p.m., Hit-and-run, ARCO. A semi truck reportedly hit a pole at ARCO gas station on Auburn Boulevard and Cook Avenue, leaving “lots of damage in the gas station parking lot.” Surveillance was reportedly available. Disposition listed: assisted.
March 17, 2016: Total of 59 incidents listed
Incident categories of note: 22 disturbance-related reports, 4 homeless-related, 5 assault reports, 7 petty thefts, 2 stolen vehicle reports, 1 burglary, 0 robberies.
1:32 a.m., Noise disturbance, Kmart. A caller reported that a man was outside using a leaf blower in front of the Kmart store on Auburn Boulevard. The caller said the blower operator was wearing a white uniform and would not stop when contacted. Disposition listed: checks ok.
10:25 a.m., Assault, Tiara Way. A call to police was made with loud background noise, crying, and a female reporting they needed “911 there for a client that is swinging at staff.” The line then disconnected. Disposition listed: report taken.
10:42 a.m., Petty theft, Toys R Us. A man reportedly grabbed and ran off with three LEGO sets valued at $700. He left in a red Honda Civic on Birdcage going towards Greenback Lane. Disposition listed: report taken.
11:44 a.m., Grand theft, Sylvan Oaks Library. A report was made regarding a laptop, apparently valued over $950, that was checked out by a library patron and never returned. Disposition listed: report taken.
8:23 p.m., Vandalism, San Juan High School. Police were informed that a custodian at San Juan High School had heard people walking on the roof and saw something thrown through a skylight, along with glass breaking. Disposition listed: assisted.
