Citrus Heights consumers will have an opportunity to cast online votes for local businesses they think deserve to win the “Best of Citrus Heights” annual award from the local Chamber of Commerce, with voting set to begin Jan. 11 and continue through mid-February of 2016.

Although the voting website, BestofCitrusHeights.org, was still in test mode and had limited information posted as of Jan. 6, a side column on the site says the competition “celebrates the best business members in good standing of the Citrus Heights Chamber in certain categories.”
Last year’s voting featured over 200 local businesses in a total of 34 categories, with visitors allowed to cast a vote on the best business in each category. Choices ranged between just three businesses listed in smaller categories, like car washes and catering, to as many as 18 businesses in categories like automotive services.
In 2015, nearly 10,000 votes were cast to determine winners in each category, with winning businesses earning the right to use the “Best of Citrus Heights” logo on their website and marketing material. Winning businesses are also typically honored at a Chamber luncheon.
A “Best of the Best” award has also been announced by the Chamber in the past, recognizing a single business for gaining the most overall votes.
