Through Dec. 18, the City of Citrus Heights is accepting applications for a spot on the Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Directors.
Focused on controlling mosquitoes to protect the public health, the District seeks “to provide safe, effective and economical mosquito and vector control for Sacramento and Yolo counties.”
According to its website, Fightthebite.net, the District is overseen by a 13 member board, with each county and incorporated city making appointments to represent their area. Terms of office are two or four year terms, with regular meetings held every third Tuesday at the District’s office in Elk Grove.
The two-page application form asks for employment and experience information, as well as a question regarding why the applicant is seeking the position. To be eligible, applicants must be registered to vote and be residents of Citrus Heights.
The deadline for applications to be received by the city clerk’s office is 5 p.m. on Dec. 18, 2015. The city council is scheduled to make appointments at its Jan. 14, 2016 meeting.
