One lane of Auburn Boulevard at Carriage Drive was closed down by police Friday night after another pedestrian was hit while crossing the roadway around 7 p.m.
Although a police spokesperson was unavailable on scene, the driver of the vehicle involved said the pedestrian was still moving when medical personnel transported him from the scene. The driver requested to not give his name, but said the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.
The driver also noted that a street lamp pole at the intersection was not lit, and said the pedestrian was not crossing in a crosswalk. There is no crosswalk going over Auburn Boulevard on the side of the intersection where the pedestrian was reportedly hit, and blood could be seen on the ground.
Officers on scene were observed measuring distances on the pavement and were overheard concluding the pedestrian flew 13 feet before landing.
The pedestrian’s condition is currently unknown. At least six people have been killed on Citrus Heights roadways this year, up from zero last year, according to police statistics.
