Events this week in Citrus Heights include a Veterans Day ceremony, craft and rummage sales, a small business workshop, and more. Here’s some highlights of what’s happening:
ALL WEEK:
Holiday Referral Program applications accepted.
Through Nov. 20, Citrus Heights police will be accepting referral forms from community members who would like to nominate an in-need family to benefit from the Department’s 7th annual “Holiday Referral Program.” To be considered, police said referred families must have “experienced a hardship or critical event in their life over the past year that has caused a significant change in their financial abilities.” (Full story)
TUESDAY, Nov. 10 —
Regional Traffic Enforcement Day. Police said motorists in Citrus Heights can expect to see “a heavy presence of officers” on motorcycles in town Tuesday, as officers from as far as Marysville come to the city to aid with enforcement efforts in high-traffic collision areas. The effort is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon, with up to 15 motorcycle officers from around the Sacramento region planning to hit the streets of Citrus Heights, according to CHPD Traffic Sgt. Bryan Fritsch.
WEDNESDAY, Nov. 11 –
Veterans Day ceremony. An annual ceremony to honor veterans will be held at Sylvan Cemetery, beginning with a march around the cemetery’s “Avenue of Flags” at 10:30 a.m. The cemetery is located at 7401 Auburn Blvd. (See last year’s story)
Veterans art display. Concluding on Nov. 11, a gallery of veterans art previously on display at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. is on display in Citrus Heights. The free display can be viewed from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, at 5925 Birdcage Centre Ln., in D102, behind Ulta. (See more)
THURSDAY, Nov. 12 –
Small business workshop. A free class on “How to Improve your Business through Technology” will be held at the Small Business Administration building in Citrus Heights. The class is hosted by the local chapter of SCORE, a business mentorship nonprofit. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 6501 Sylvan Rd. (Registration link)
City council meeting. Several public hearings will be held during the council’s 7 p.m. meeting on Thursday, with items related to the Citrus Heights Urban Greenery Strategy, allocation of federal community development funds, and an extension of the City’s existing moratorium on new massage businesses. A special 6 p.m. study session on the Cal Home “Mobile Home Repair Program” will also precede the regular council meeting. Both meetings will be held in the council’s temporary location inside the community center at 6300 Fountain Square Dr. (See agenda)

SATURDAY, Nov. 14 –
Sunrise Craft Fair. An annual craft fair featuring seasonal handmade gifts and crafts will be held at the Rusch Park Community Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mrs. Claus is also scheduled to make a surprise appearance, and raffle prize drawings will be held every 30 minutes, according to an event flier. Craft and rummage sale. Various items and food will be on sale at the annual “Boutique & Bake Rummage Sale,” held at the Citrus Heights Community Church from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Hot drinks, hot dogs, chili, and soda will also be on sale. The church is located at 7405 Mariposa Ave. (See flier)
