Southern California-based leadership consultant and author Tony Baron, Ph.D., is scheduled to give a public lecture on “servant leadership” at Messiah Lutheran Church in Citrus Heights, Friday evening.

According to his online bio, Baron’s past clients in the business sector include Boeing, Kaiser Permanente, Warner Brothers, and Petco. He is also known in the religious sector for planting two churches and developing the Christian Healing Center, a Southern California-based ministry which seeks to provide “spiritual medicine to physical, spiritual, and emotional problems.”

Based in San Diego, Baron currently serves as director of Azusa Pacific Seminary, and is an ordained Anglican priest — although he shares his leadership message with both secular and faith-based audiences. In 2010, he also authored the book “The Art of Servant Leadership,” which is also the title of his upcoming lecture.

In a news release about the event, Baron is quoted explaining the concept of servant leadership by critiquing the view that the sole goal of a business is to maximize profit. Instead, he said “the sole goal of a business is to exist for the sake of others.”

The Nov. 6 lecture is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Roseville-based Incarnation Anglican Church and the Diocese of Churches for the Sake of Others. Organizers said the event is free to the public and will include a time for audience questions.
