Highlights of events happening in Citrus Heights this week include a fall carnival at Sunrise Mall, several water district Q-and-A presentations, and a variety of Halloween-related activities. Here’s what’s on schedule:
ALL WEEK:
Veterans art display. Continuing through Nov. 11 — a gallery of veterans art previously on display at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. will be on display in Citrus Heights. The free display can be viewed from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, at 5925 Birdcage Centre Ln., in D102, behind Ulta. (See more)
MONDAY, Oct. 26 –
Neighborhood meeting. During the monthly meeting of the Sylvan Old Auburn Neighborhood Association, officials with the Citrus Heights Water District are scheduled to give a presentation and answer questions about the District’s proposed water rate increase. Other topics will also likely be discussed at the meeting. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Sylvan Community Center, located at 7521 Community Dr.

TUESDAY, Oct. 27 –
Neighborhood meeting. Citrus Heights Water District officials are scheduled to give their second presentation of the week at the Sunrise Ranch Neighborhood Association meeting Tuesday night, discussing the District’s proposed water rate increase and answering questions. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Twin Oaks Baptist Church, located at 7690 Twin Oaks Ave. Other topics are also on schedule for discussion. (See agenda)
WEDNESDAY, Oct. 28 –
Fall Carnival at Sunrise Mall. The Midway of Fun Carnival kicks off Wednesday in the mall parking lot along Sunrise Boulevard, and will continue through Sunday. The carnival will be open Wednesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. (See more)
Planning Commission meeting. A Wednesday-night planning commission meeting has been scheduled this week, according to the City’s online calendar. Summary details will be updated shortly, as the meeting agenda was not posted on the City’s web site as of Monday morning. Update: The meeting has been cancelled, according to City Clerk Amy Van.

HALLOWEEN Activities, Oct. 31 –
Sylvan Oaks Library. Kids are invited to join the library’s “All Hallows Read” event from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, with an opportunity to make “goodie bags” and visit various stations for games and sweets. A free book is also to be provided for each child participant. (See more)
OneLife Church. The Citrus Heights-based church will hold a “Trunk or Treat” public event in the Sam’s Club parking lot on Greenback Lane from 6 to 8:30 p.m., promising candy, jump houses, and games. (See more)
Sunrise Mall. Kids under 12 are invited to get free treats from certain stores inside the Sunrise Mall, with participants invited to pick up a free trick-or-treat bag from the Customer Service desk between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 31. According to an event flier, masks or “excessive makeup” are not allowed. Supplies are limited, and costumed characters and candy stations are sponsored by Bayside Church of Citrus Heights. Cemetarium. The haunted house and “psycho circus” at 7983 Arcadia Drive will be open from 7 p.m. to midnight on Oct. 31, with a “low-scare” version open for the first half hour, before turning into “full scare” for the rest of the night. Ticket prices range from $8 to $30 dollars. (see more)
